March 26 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Goodwill of Southern California and CAFWD are partnering together to host an education / business forum in the Antelope Valley. Under the direction of Governor Brown, we are looking at the unique way that education and industry work together in the Antelope Valley region and how that model might be used to possibly provide guidance for future and current legislation that is being considered in Sacramento. I greatly value your input and direction and would love to have you and your team in attendance. Please see the invitation listed below, with an Eventbrite link attached. Please feel free to distribute this to anyone within your network that you feel would have input into the subject matter. As always, I look forward to seeing you and working with you on the project!

Artificial intelligence, the rise of gig economy platforms, and a new wave of automation will further change the future of work and the skill sets required to thrive in the workforce – How will employers be impacted? How can workers upskill to avoid becoming stranded? Understanding shifts in the future of work can help policymakers, employers and workers move forward on strategies to ensure California’s economic resilience.

Toward that end, Goodwill of Southern California will host California Community Colleges and local businesses for a regional “Future of Work Meet Up” event to seek input from a variety of leadership audiences on the future of work, including opinions about the relevancy and value of a cohesive digital learning infrastructure to meet the needs of California’s diverse workforce.

Business & industry, economic development professionals, community college leaders, workforce development boards and community-based organizations and policy and civic leaders are invited to share observations about the future of work, learn about model workforce development practices and discuss strategies helpful to employers and workers.

The agenda topics include:

  • Signals on the Future of Work
  • Implications for Employers and Workers
  • Regional Industry/Education Partnerships in Workforce Innovations
  • Overcoming Worker Barriers to Upskilling
  • Live Polling: Growing Regional Ecosystems – Input on Priorities & Actions
