Dear Antelope Valley Stakeholder,

The California Complete Count team for Census 2020 in partnership with the California Community Foundation and the County of Los Angeles invites you to the July 25th Antelope Valley regional convening to help build your community’s capacity to achieve a complete count during the 2020 Census. Meeting information and registration link can be found below.

Why the Census Matters to You!
The 2020 Census will seek to count nearly 400 million persons, requiring cooperation among federal, state, and local governments; community-based organizations, the private sector and philanthropy.

In California, the distribution of $76 billion for federal programs depends on data derived from the census. If our residents go uncounted, it will inhibit both equal access to resources and equal political representation for Californians.

Census experts have ranked Los Angeles County as the nation’s hardest-to-count county. To achieve an accurate count, we need community organizations like yours to support the Get Out the Count efforts!

Regional Convening Overview:
The California Complete Count team is planning to hold five convenings in Los Angeles County. The objective of these convenings is to have an assessment of the region’s readiness for the 2020 count, form partnerships, and identify opportunities for action.

These meetings are an opportunity for local leaders in hard to count (HTC) areas to work directly with the 2020 Census State Officials to identify needed resources, outline effective outreach strategies, and discuss building partnerships within communities and regions. Attendees will learn about the following:
State and federal Census 2020 efforts
Mapping and demographic data available
Information on how to mitigate anticipated complete count challenges

Who should come:
Legislators, civil servants, and local representatives
Nonprofit and community-based leaders, including the areas of education, faith-based, health services, immigrant, labor/union, libraries, local government, non-profit, philanthropic, rural, senior, seasonal farmworkers, and social services organizations
