Southern California Association of Governments is currently seeking an independent self-starter with excellent project management and interpersonal skills with a passion for serving the Active Transportation needs of the Southern California region. This position requires an individual with a strong track record of project management, experience with cross departmental collaboration, and knowledge of active transportation trends in the SCAG region. Under general management direction, the Program Manager will provide strategic direction on a combination of the following programs: the Regional Active Transportation Program (ATP); the active transportation, safety, and/or public health components of Connect SoCal; planning activities and program development related to active transportation, public health, and/or safety; and the Go Human Campaign. The Program Manager provides oversight for the implementation of the ATP and supports projects by making recommendations for amendments when needed and monitors implementation to ensure funds are allocated and the project is delivered. Additionally, the Program Manager will provide leadership and support to staff in accomplishing the department’s objectives and work plan.

The Program Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing regional initiatives related to each of the above topic areas to achieve the goals of Connect SoCal and SCAG’s strategic plan. Activities will include outreach efforts such as workshops, technical working groups, project management of consultant contracts and grant management on behalf of local cities. The Program Manager will be responsible to provide oversight to develop new resources and engage local cities to promote safety and encouragement strategies for active transportation as part of the Go Human Campaign.
