The Antelope Valley College Health and Sciences building was renamed in honor of Dr. Uhazy by unanimous resolution of the Antelope Valley Community College District Board of Trustees in 2017 for his thirty years of service to both college and community. He has provided extraordinary service as a dean and previously a microbiology faculty.

Uhazy served as Scholar-In-Residence for 1996-1997, and was a leader in the formation of the early college, SOAR High School. Dr. Uhazy has provided leadership for the development of a articulated, collaborative Engineering Degree Program with California State University, Long Beach. His commitment to student opportunity has resulted in a significant growth of STEM discipline enrollment across the entire Antelope Valley region. Dr. Uhazy’s service to the community at large includes active participation as a community liaison for the U.S. Air Force, collaboration with the Air Force Research Laboratory; Edwards Air Force Base Civilian- Military Organization; Board Member for The Palmdale Aerospace Academy; and the Flight Test Historical Society among others.
