Piute Middle School Career Day
Each year, community members, who work in a variety of careers, are invited to the school to talk about the type of work they do, the type of education needed to do that type of work, and the benefits of working in that type of field.
The community/career person stays in one classroom and the classes (students) rotate from classroom to classroom. The teachers are very aware of the fact that you are a member of the community and may not be used to middle school age students. Each teacher follows his/her students and stays in or near them at all times.
There is a saying, “It takes a village”, and this program offers a unique opportunity for people in our ‘village’ to help guide these students.
If you are interested, please contact Amanda Marsh (firstname.lastname@example.org). (Amanda is my daughter and a 6th grade teacher at Piute.)
And, if you know of anyone who might be interested in participating in this one day event, would you let Amanda know.
PS: The teacher who sets up career day at Piute, said she is having a very tough time getting speakers for career day. Please consider volunteering to help students.
