Nominations are currently open for the AV East Kern STEM Network Steering Committee. The elections will take place at our regular June meeting, to be held on Thursday, 14 June 2018, at 3:30pm at Mojave High School. If you are wish to nominate or self-nominate to stand for the election, please provide me with a short (no more than one paragraph) bio to provide to the members, by no later than Thursday, 24 May 2018.
The following were nominated from the floor at yesterday’s regular meeting: Lisa Brown; Barbie Buckner; Khalil Dajani; Randy Scott; Sarah Tyndall.
There are four open positions to fill.
Following is a description of the Steering Committee from our association bylaws:
Members of the Steering Committee shall be willing and able to actively participate in and demonstrate commitment to the work of the Network, and have an expressed interest in the goals and objectives of promoting, developing, and expanding educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the geographic area of the association. Each member of the Steering Committee may attend general and Steering Committee meetings virtually no more than two times per quarter, with at least one general and Steering Committee meeting being attended in person each quarter. If, in the event a member of the Steering Committee fails to participate in regular activities of the Network, s/he may be removed by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Committee of the whole.
Each Member of the Steering Committee shall serve a term of two years commencing July 1st, with half of the Members going off at the end of each fiscal year. At the end of each term, the Members of the ANTELOPE VALLEY EAST KERN STEM NETWORK shall elect the Members to the Steering Committee for the next term. A Steering Committee Member shall be eligible to serve no more than three (3) consecutive terms.
