Job Seekers Encouraged to Contact Lance to Fill 150 New Jobs
Lancaster, CA. January 23, 2017 – Today, the City of Lancaster joined with Lance Camper Manufacturing Corporation to announce the addition of 150 new jobs to Lance’s workforce. The international recreation vehicle manufacturing firm recently acquired an additional 61,000-square-foot industrial facility to accommodate increased demand for production of their state-of-the-art travel trailers and truck campers. The plant, located adjacent to Lance’s existing 110,000-square-foot headquarters in the Lancaster Business Park, will be renovated and upgraded for use by the RV firm.
“Lance Camper is truly a world-class organization, selling top-quality recreational vehicles throughout the United States and overseas,” said City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We are extremely proud that Lance, under the leadership of President Jack Cole, has selected Lancaster as the home for its operations for more than two decades. We are pleased to see the ongoing success Lance continues to enjoy, as well as the many employment opportunities the company brings to Lancaster.”
Recruiting is already underway to fill 150 new positions to staff the new plant. Job seekers are encouraged to contact the Human Resources department at (661) 949-3322, extension 203. For positions with Avery Transport, Lance’s transportation company, please call (661) 948-3627.
“This expansion is very exciting. With the addition of this latest facility, we now have more than 225,000 square feet of facilities and over 650 employees supporting our manufacturing, service and transportation capabilities, all located in the Lancaster Business Park. 2017 marks our 20th year in the Antelope Valley,” stated Lance President Jack Cole. “It’s been a pleasure to work with the City of Lancaster all these years, and we appreciate all they’ve done to assist and accommodate this expansion.”
In business for more than 50 years, Lance Camper Manufacturing Corporation has been operating in the Lancaster Business Park since 1997. Lance Truck Campers, Ultra-Light Travel Trailers and Toy Haulers are some of the most award-winning RVs on the road today. The company’s products continue to gain popularity across the United States and Canada, having become a favorite among California RV enthusiasts. The firm currently manufactures its product line in approximately 110,000 square feet of industrial space, boasting 510 employees. Lance also operates a service and maintenance facility in the Lancaster Business Park.
“This is truly a home-grown success story,” added Parris. “Lance has been an incredible addition to Lancaster since joining our family 20 years ago. We couldn’t be prouder of their ongoing success.”
Cole and his team exhibit a proven track record of resiliency and ingenuity – key aspects for maintaining a thriving business. When faced with the relentless downturn brought on by the recent Great Recession, Cole and his company not only weathered the storm, but adapted their business model by creating new and innovative products that are in high demand. Long known for production of top-quality truck campers, Lance incorporated ultra-light travel trailers into their product line in 2009, followed by toy haulers in 2015.
Thanks to Cole’s hard work and insight, today, approximately 70% of Lance’s business derives from products the firm didn’t manufacture prior to the recession. In addition, the company’s business is up 60% year-over-year.
This explosive growth led Lance to craft a plan for the firm’s expansion. Lance recently purchased the 61,000-square-foot industrial facility located south of their present complex. Lance will perform substantial rehabilitation efforts on the currently vacant building in order to update it for use. The new property is being designed with Lance’s continued focus on precision CNC (Computer Numerical Control) manufacturing of lightweight high-quality composite components.
For Lance, the new property is ideal in more ways than one. Full climate control makes it optimal for the company’s automated lamination process. Featuring an extensive solar panel system, the new facility also expands upon Lance’s commitment to responsible green manufacturing.
“The new building will allow us to significantly increase our daily production rate,” stated Jeff Souleles, Vice President of Operations for Lance. “This new facility will provide our lamination department much-needed elbow room, while freeing up space in our existing building for other purposes. We also look forward to adding up to 150 new employees as a result.”
To facilitate Lance’s expansion, the City will consider vacating a portion of Capital Drive, a cul-de-sac which serves only Lance itself. This move will allow for additional product storage on the surrounding property, all of which is owned by Lance. The City will also consider restoring the original name of Fortune Way to Signature Court, the street on which the expansion facility is located. The Lancaster City Council will consider these actions at its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 24. “This project provides the City with an opportunity to facilitate the major expansion of a thriving Lancaster business, while rehabilitating and filling an existing industrial vacancy,” added City Manager Mark V. Bozigian. “In addition, it creates 150 new jobs for local residents, all at very minimal cost to the taxpayer.”
