Henderson was the architect of Palm Desert and he was the Managing Director of the National Air Races. Thousands returned each year to witness the daring, the spectacular, and the thrills provided by the National Air Races.
A dedicated aviation historian, Barbara Schultz is the author of four other books on aviation: Pancho: The Biography of Florence Lowe Barnes, Wedell-Williams Air Service, Flying Carpets, Flying Wings: The Biography of Moye W. Stephens, and Endorsed by Earhart: How Amelia Financed her Flying
