Kimberly is a native of the Antelope Valley and has been the President of GAVEA since February 2013. Her goal has been to promote the region in one voice for the benefit of both counties and every community 3000 square miles.
In 1984 she began her professional career in Lancaster as a Projects Coordinator for her father’s Civil Engineering firm, JK Civil Engineering. It was then that she fell in love with the land development, entitlement, public policy and construction process. In 1993 she was hired to lead the Building Industry Assn., Antelope Valley Chapter as their lobbyist and Executive Director and embarked on her first role at a non-profit organization. Kimberly left the Antelope Valley for Colorado in 1996 to serve as the Director of Community Affairs for the Home Builders Association of Northern Colorado. Kimberly spent 14 years in Colorado working in the home building and housing affordability arena. She served on the Larimer County Planning Commission, the Fort Collins Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity Board and CO Housing NOW initiative. Kimberly earned her Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in Consumer Sciences with an emphasis on public policy, business development and marketing.
In 2010 Kimberly returned to the Antelope Valley and began a new chapter in her career as an entrepreneur and leadership consultant. As a consummate entrepreneur she has owned and operated everything from a tanning salon to a custom / semi-custom home building franchise, to a pet-sitting company and understands the challenges and opportunities every business owner may face.
