PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale was ranked the 78th in the top cities in America to start a family according to a recent study by LendEDU.com.
The report, published Feb. 23, ranked the 350 most populated cities in the United States across four parameters to identify the top 300 cities for starting a family: 1) Education Quality; 2) Cost of First Home Purchase; 3) Safety; 4) Percentage of Young Families in the population. The overall score for each city was calculated from the four individual, equally weighted rankings and was scored as a number; the lower the number the better the ranking.
Palmdale received a score of 111, which placed it as the 20th best in California and 78th best in the country. According to LendEDU’s report, “Palmdale, California checks in at 78 on our list of the best cities in the U.S. to start a family. This Los Angeles suburb became the first community in the Antelope Valley to incorporate in 1962. Notable employers in Palmdale include Lockheed-Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing.” The full list may be found online at lendedu.com/blog/best-cities-start-family
“We’ve long prided ourselves on being ‘a place to call home,’” said Palmdale City Manager Jim Purtee. “As we gear up for the next wave of job and population growth, we are actively engaged in creating an even more livable and desirable Palmdale that will appeal to all age groups, from the Millennials to the Boomers and our seniors.”
